Most firm data lives in a system your AI tools cannot read. Kept changes that. Through MCP (Model Context Protocol), you can connect AI assistants and internal agents to your firm’s Kept record without exporting anything or building a data pipeline by hand.
Start here
MCP access lets you query your firm’s Kept record from Claude, ChatGPT or any agent that speaks the protocol. Ask about a deal, pull up a company, or request a portfolio summary. Answers come back with the source attached, so you always know where the data came from.
MCP access is available on the Fund plan.
What you can read
Kept exposes the same record your team sees in the product:
- Deals: stage, round, target size, lead, intros and next steps
- Companies: founders, stage and the deals and documents linked to them
- People: founders, co-investors and contacts, and who at the firm knows them
- Co-investors: the deals and portfolio companies you share
- Portfolio metrics: ARR, runway, headcount and milestones from decks and updates
- Notes: meeting notes and corrections, including the reason given
Every answer references its source, such as “email · Mon 09:14” or “Q3 deck · p.7”, so agents can cite what they used.
Permissions carry through
Your firm’s access controls apply to every query. If a record is restricted to certain partners, an agent calling through MCP sees the same restriction. Per-record and row-level permissions apply exactly as they do in the product.
Kept never changes data without showing the exact change and waiting for a person to confirm. An agent cannot quietly update a record on your behalf.
Access
Full MCP documentation is shared with early-access firms during onboarding. Request early access and mention that you want MCP access.
